An overall plateau in onshore oil production is currently expected by 2016 or thereabouts, followed by slow decline after 2020. An overall peak in onshore gas production is currently expected in or around 2025 although, of course, as for offshore, this is subject to much more speculation and depends on the energy prices and economic and environmental circumstances that ensue after the oil peak passes as well as the true impact of unconventional gas resources which remain uncertain over the long term.
