Four areas are included in this region - North West Europe (primarily
the North Sea), Southern Europe, Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet
Union (including Asian areas).
There are thirty one countries, in this region (fifteen in Western Europe,
five in Eastern
Europe and eleven in the Former Soviet Union) that produce or have produced
oil, condensate, natural gas liquids and/or natural gas at recorded and
measurable levels.
One further country (The Faeroes Islands) is believed to have the
potential to produce oil in the short term and gas in the longer term.
There are no OPEC members in the region but Russia, Azerbaijan,
Kazakhstan and Norway are
important exporters of both oil and gas.
