SUPPLY
There is little remaining oil potential in Tajikistan
from small fields in the Fergana valley neighbouring Uzbekistan. However
gas resources in the west of the country could be relatively large and,
with new investment, some growth in output is forecast for local
markets.
DEMAND
Tajikistan consumes modest amounts of oil and gas
imported from neighbouring countries.
Both oil and gas consumption has increased as the country develops,
although oil consumption is now flat and gas consumption has fallen.
After 2006 a drop in gas consumption coincided with a reduced need for
imported gas and, with output growth, the country is expected to be self
sufficient by 2013.
