SUPPLY
In Cambodia exploration has proceeded since the country
achieved some sort of stability and there almost certainly will be
production realised in the future in its offshore region bordering
Thailand.
ChevronTexaco has discovered oil in four exploration wells (Pisnuka,
Sovann Phum, Sirey Sambat and Pimean Akas) drilled in 2004 in Block A
overlying the Khmer Basin. The area was awarded in 2002 and has water
depths averaging 73 metres. Production is forecast of both oil and gas
in 2013 and other developments will follow.
DEMAND
Cambodia
imports small volumes of oil and but will begin to export once it begins
producing.
There will be small increases in oil consumption but gas demand will
rise considerably as production begins and the country looks to new ways
to exploit gas in its immature industries.
