THE ASIA-PACIFIC

The Asia Pacific comprises two sub-regions – Asia (not including countries of the Former Soviet Union) and Australasia.

There are 17 countries/locations in Asia and 4 in Australasia that produce or have produced oil, condensate, natural gas liquids and/or natural gas at recorded and measurable levels. These now include Timor Leste, which began producing condensate in 2004 in a joint development with Australia, and South Korea, which began producing gas in late 2003.

Indonesia is the only OPEC member in the region but this country has now become a net oil importer.
