SUPPLY
Oil in Surinam is produced from the onshore part of the
Guyana basin in two fields. Other small fields in the neighbourhood will
keep output at a plateau for some years.
The country produces no offshore oil and, although deepwater potential
is hoped for, no production is forecast. Surinam produces no gas.
DEMAND
Oil consumption is growing slowly and further growth is
projected as the country develops. The supply/demand balance is such
that imports have been required for brief periods in the past and
Surinam will probably become a permanent net importer after 2014.
Increasing imports will quell demand growth.
Surinam uses no gas.
