OIL PEAK: 2007

Guatemala produces oil from a number of fields in two regions within the central Peten basin. There remains potential for further finds although output is probably at peak.

Guatemala has no offshore production or gas production and none is forecast.

Oil consumption is flat although may increase slightly over the next few years until high prices curtail demand around 2016. Most of Guatemala’s oil is imported. The country uses no gas.
