CHAD

North Africa

Chad began producing oil in 2003 through a 30 inch pipeline linking newly developed fields to an offshore terminal and FSO off Cameroon’s Atlantic coast.

Called the Chad Cameroon Development Project (CCDP), the pipeline extends 1,070 km from Chad's Doba basin oil fields to the offshore terminal at Kribi in Cameroon. Production commenced from three fields in the Doba basin – Bolobo, Kome and Miandoun - which are believed to contain reserves of over 1 Bn Bbls.

Full development of additional yet-to-find resources, initially from the Nya and Miandouli fields,  is likely to be rapid now a pipeline has been built although production declined in 2006.

Exploration along the path of the pipeline could yield significantly more oil, on the west from the Doba and Bongor basins.
