OIL PEAK: 2013 (forecast)

Chad began producing oil in 2003 from 3 new fields through a pipeline to an offshore terminal in Cameroon. Exploration along the path of the pipeline could yield more oil in the Doba and Bongor basins so that output will remain at a bumpy plateau before beginning to fall consistently after 2014/15.

Chad has no gas production and none is forecast before 2020 although the country may have gas prospects. Chad has no offshore waters.

Oil consumption in Chad was negligible until indigenous production began and it is still modest. Some growth is expected in line with growing exports and increasing signs of affluence amongst its small urban population.

The country uses no gas.
