(in West Africa)

AREA (on): 112,600 km2

OIL PEAK: 1985

Benin, along with Togo, has an offshore area underlain by the Benin basin. Two shallow water fields have been developed, one of which (Seme) is still producing. Output peaked back in 1985 although some modest new production may be realised from 2010.

Deepwaters are being explored but no new production is forecast.

There is no gas or onshore production in the country and no new output is forecast.

Benin uses modest amounts of oil, most of which is imported.

Oil consumption will remain flat although gas use is likely to begin, substituting for oil where possible, imported from largely Nigeria along the West African pipeline.

This is a simple forecast - detailed forecasts including offshore and onshore, deep water splits, sedimentary basins and major fields and drilling etc. can be purchased for most countries.

An onshore and offshore oil and gas production, consumption and drilling activity forecast report on this country can be commissioned,

including all relevant charts. Contact us for price and contents list.
